Heat Level: 4 flames out of 5
Rating: 5 stars out of 5

This is a laugh out loud read. You may want to read this in the privacy of your own home. Not laughing in NOT an option. The plot of this story has Makayla leaving New York City, leaving her job moving across the country to sunny California to reinvent her uptight self. Her best friend and soon to be roommate has given her a list of things to do to have some fun. Wear a bikini out in public, have sex with someone you don’t know, have sex on the beach, join the mile high club…Makayla has 30 days to complete the 10 items on the list. When the sex on a stick man takes the seat next to her on the plane, things get really heated. An attempt to cross some items off her list nearly lands her in jail. To make matters worse, Makayla realizes that he is the same man that she watched get blown at her going away party the night before. Not bad enough, he is her new next door neighbor. The chemistry between Camden Waters and Makayla is sunburn hot. This is a fun, light, easy read that will have you flipping those pages faster than ice cream melting on hot sand. Great ending, hoping that Makayla’s best friend, Maggie and Cam’s roommate Brooklyn make some magic of their own. The characters in this book have all overcome some struggle, making them believable and more enjoyable.

Book Review #113

This is a prime example of me judging a book by it’s cover. But can you blame me?

WOW…I need this book asap! This cover…it’s something else! Seriously HOT!

When I look at the cover, I see:
Deliciously Sinful
Forbidden Romance

Then I read the blurb, and was like, OH HELL YES! I can’t wait to read this book! So I didn’t judge too much from the cover…

….but I got none of that.

There is no need to describe the story, the blurb takes care of it completely for me.

I’m neither here nor there with this one. It was an ok story, cute, light and fluffy, but not what I expected at all. What I expected was what I described when I looked at the cover and read the blurb. I didn’t connect with the story until about 75% into it. I felt a pull but not enough to really grip me.

I’m definitely in the minority with this book it seems, so I’m going to explain what didn’t work for me.

The relationship between Garrick and Bliss started out one night and then stopped quickly after because he is her professor. Understandable. Their relationship was on and off throughout the semester and not for long periods of time either. When they were back on the final time, an ‘I love you’ drops.

I’m sorry…what?!

I didn’t see it coming! The I love you came out of left field. Is it possible that the I love you’s didn’t fit for me because I didn’t have a strong connection to the characters or the story? Sure. It’s possible. But when it was said, I just didn’t feel it and it surely wasn’t needed, in my opinion.

Bliss, the heroine, is suppose to be this awkward 21 year old virgin in college. I never identified her as being awkward. Not one bit. She seemed like the everyday college student to me, hanging out with friends, going to clubs, crushing on her professors. But was it because she’s a virgin in college and freaked right before she was about to loose her virginity? To me that’s normal. I just don’t see awkward…

What saved this for me was Garrick and Cade. I liked Garrick a lot and his British accent. He’s exactly how I pictured on the cover, I just wish he had a little more push to him. Cade was sweet and I connected to him more than anyone and I would have like to see where he ends up.

I have to give this new indie author credit- Her writing is clean with hardly any errors and I did enjoy her style, sadly I just didn’t feel it. This doesn’t mean I won’t read any other books she releases, it’s just that this wasn’t for me.

If you like lighthearted romances with a slight side of humor then this book is for you.

Title: Royally Screwed
Series: Royally #1
Author: Emma Chase
Release date: October 18, 2016
Cliffhanger: No

As a bachelor, Prince Nicholas has a filthy mind, filthy mouth, and such a possession-dominant attitude that make your panties melt! Even though he has a status of a single, hot Prince, who is soon to take the throne after his majesty, The Queen (his grandmother) hands it over to him, Nick still has secrets and a past that haunts him because of his fame. He is expected to fly to New York and look for his brother Henry for support and to also help him rule their people, but before he leaves to find his brother after a military leave, his grandmother makes him promise to her that he will get down and ready to marry someone suitable to rule their kingdom side-by-side. That’s when he meets Olivia…

➳Olivia- also known as Livvy- is a New Yorker- born and raised- and lives with her father who is a depressing a**hole after their mother past away, and her teenage sister Ellie who is about to finish high school. “Amelia” the coffee shop that Olivia runs and is owned by their family, is not getting any sales and is almost in the point of going bankrupt. One night, everything changes. She meets Nick, and even though his consciousness was not clear when they first met because he was drunk and made an offer that one can never forget!

After his consciousness comes back, Nicholas tries to apologize to Olivia because he feels sorry for his actions, but also because he wants to talk to her again. At this point of the story, I thought Nicholas would go to the same cliché way that every other romance marriage story goes- propose to her. But nope! (Thank God…) Emma Chase went all the way out in this story. After Nick and Livvy accounted with each other, they began to get closer and closer. The sexual chemistry and their lust is one that I honestly cannot describe. Emma does such a marvelous job when she writes these scenes. She has a good spice of everything; the love, the chemistry, the good amount of words (dirty and flirty) and the perfect description of how things function. Its all just miraculous incredible when you read it, and you can honestly feel it. Nick cherishes Olivia and adores her body;

➳“And the teasing play, the joking spirit that surrounded us, dissipates, replaced by something more powerful. Urgent and primal”

Something that I really enjoyed is the theme that Emma kept rolling about; good things happen to an individual, but eventually the bad will come and try to get the best of you. Her writing is exceptional at a level you do not expect coming, and when you start reading this book you honestly cannot put it down. Even though Olivia and Nick have a short amount of time together, and spend their summer adoring each other, do they really have ENOUGH time to admire everything they want from each other? What happens afterwards when their time is up? Trust me when I say this, YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK BECAUSE IT IS LIFE!

Book Review 111

I devoured this book in a matter of hours no lie !! Just as I did every other Megan Smith book I have read !! Which I believe would be all of them !!!!!!!!!! Then of course I bawled my eyes out like a snotty little toddler throwing a temper tantrum from about 85% on !! This is also not new to me when it comes to Megan Smith , she does enjoy torturing in some of her books. This is why I read , I love being tortured and teased and kicked in the gut , not in real life just in my wonderful book life. I was destroyed and wasn’t sure I could even start another book but after a few hours of sleep here I am writing my review and moving on. I won’t forget , but I also am feeling more at peace with the ending. I am looking forward to more from the original gang , I mean Cooper must have had some serious struggles with this and I of course want more of everyone I feel they all have more to tell !!

If you have read Megan’s other books you will already know all the characters , even Eli and Layla , and you will have already seen some of this play out through Cooper and Jay’s POV. I love multiple POV’s , love being in everyone’s head !! This book is mainly about Eli and Layla but you do get quite a bit of Cooper and Jay since they are each others besties and they lend some POV as well. Eli’s story is pretty straight forward. He is everyones savior and protector. He protects and runs the club while Cooper is away for baseball , he watches over Jay and Cooper’s house as well. He protects his sister from her dumb exes and spoils his niece rotten. He wants to take care of and protect Layla as well. He very rarely has a selfish moment. Until he is frustrated and drunk. He is an amazing guy and I loved every piece of him that we got. I mean I hate bar flies but no doubt he was hot and I enjoyed envisioning the cover model as Eli in action !! He is intense in everything he does. The pull he feels towards Layla is scary intense and full of passion. You know when he gets what he wants it will be EPIC !! Eli deserves some happiness for himself. Layla is living a nightmare. Her mother comes and goes as she pleases leaving Layla to care for her little sister and take care of bills to their crappy apartment. Layla relies on her abusive boyfriend for just about everything and he willingly gives and expects too much in return. Thankfully by the time we get to Layla she has had enough and we see her strength building. Sadly she doesn’t tell anyone anything about her life not even those who think they are her best friends. After a few too many events that strike Eli and Jay as weird they finally get to the bottom of Layla’s secrets and the desire they have to help is amazing. Once life starts to turn around for Layla and her little sister Fallon we also see the even more amazing side of Eli !! I swear their relationship is beautiful and heartfelt and so full of love and emotion before they even make it official. All the while you are on the edge of your seat just waiting for Brain , the abuse now ex ?? I mean between him and the mom it really is a roller coaster of waiting for the other shoe to drop. Well it drops and it drops hard and heavy. I think I went through a whole box of tissues. It will gut you , maybe ?? Maybe not ?? I mean I expect some drama and heartache from a Megan Smith story but this was a whole new level of it. HOLY WOW. The ending , the 6 months later , the letter , OMG as if I wasn’t already destroyed. So am I being vague , probably , but you know what just go read it !!
